I. Introduction
LAW on Modifications and Amendments to the Law on Federal Ministries and Other Organs of Federal Administration ( “Official Gazette of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina “, No: 8/06 ) determines that Federal Ministry of Physical Planning performs expert and other tasks falling under the competence of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that relate to:
- Planning and spatial planning; land utilization policy on federal level; preparation, implementation of the Spatial plan of the Federation
- Harmonizing of cantonal spatial plans with the spatial plan of the Federation
- long term development of the use of natural resources
- geological researches
- preparation of basic maps -geophysical, seismological, geometrical, minerogenetic, geochemical, geomorphologic and others
- preparation of geologic basis for spatial planning
- Monitoring relevant offices within the sector
- Other tasks determined by the Law
Planned activities of the Federal Ministry of Physical Planning cover a normative part (laws and by-laws), projects and activities, information and other tasks within the competence of the Ministry.

V. OTHER TASKS AND ACTIVITIES ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE:
Conducting first -instance administrative proceedings upon a client request to obtain an urban consent,
Construction permission and usage permission, that relate to buildings and operations of significance for the FBIH, activities and operations affecting environment, health and wellbeing of the FBIH and wider population, and national monuments, being designated as national monuments of BIH, in accordance with Decision made by the Commission to preserve national monuments ,
Conducting second- instance administrative proceedings as per subjects of appeals of citizens covering housing field and urban- construction inspection,
It provides responses to the charges for administrative proceedings against Decisions made by the respective Federal Ministry.
MISCELLANEOUS
It provides continuous expert assistance to municipalities and cantons covering the field of the scope of work of the respective Ministry.
It addresses delegates’ issues; it provides opinions upon demands of companies, institutions municipal and cantonal bodies, ombudsmen, attorneys and citizens in implementing provisions that relate to the spatial planning, housing, housing relations and property law enforcement.
The Ministry organizes competency exams for the areas as follows: architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, traffic, and transport engineering.
The Ministry of Physical Planning of the FBIH continues to perform tasks falling under its competence.
